Outreach 2012

In the summer of 2012, Team 3941’s Rookie Robot, TAZER, shot out a giant foam baseball for the opening pitch of an Aberdeen Ironbirds minor league baseball game. The game provided a unique opportunity to make our presence known in the community and introduce people to robotics who had never heard of FIRST before. See video below.

FRC 3941 participated in a massive, TechBrick-wide community open house hosted at our own HQ in February of 2012. We demonstrated our in-progress robot to over 200 intrigued community members and helped introduce them to the exciting vortex of TechBrick Robotics. Many visitors asked how they could get involved in FIRST, and we were happy to tell them. Local media got in on the action as well; the Aegis newspaper and the Aberdeen Patch, both local news media outlets, featured articles on our open house and our team soon after.

To provide robot-demo-fun and a TechBrick fundraiser to the community, TechBrick took advantage of the musical talents of Team 3941’s members and hosted four nights of live performances at the local Open Door Café last spring. Besides the music, we manned a demo station with our Rookie All-Star video and one of TechBrick’s FTC team’s robots to inform restaurant-goers about our program.
